Contractors wanted (remote, Europe):
Operations & Legal Setup (Europe) • Website Compliance & Manager • Non-profit Tax Accountant (DE/EU)
About us
Compassionate Future Initiative (CFI) is a small, impact-driven non-profit project focused community building. We're advocating and mobilising for high-impact initiatives to reduce suffering in the near and distant future and are seeking to move from fiscal sponsorship to our own European legal entity and professionalising our web presence and finance operations.
You can apply for one or multiple roles below.
1) Operations & Legal Setup (Europe) — Contractor
Mandate / outcomes
Evaluate and recommend the optimal European legal form and jurisdiction for CFI (e.g., e.V./gGmbH/gUG in Germany, or alternatives in EU/EEA), with pros/cons and cost/complexity.
Deliver an incorporation plan and timeline; coordinate filings and registrations to completion.
Set up essentials: banking, payments/donations, bookkeeping stack, basic internal policies (governance, approvals), and contract templates.
Advise on compliant options for cross-border contracting and volunteer engagement.
What you’ll do
Light discovery, then a short written options memo → final decision brief.
Orchestrate incorporation steps, liaise with notary/registries/service providers.
Draft simple SOPs (who does what, when, and how).
Profile
Track record incorporating/transitioning non-profits in Europe.
Comfortable comparing DE/EU structures and practical trade-offs.
Pragmatic, documentation-first, low-bureaucracy mindset.
2) Website Compliance & Manager — Contractor (Honorarvertrag)
Mandate / outcomes
Bring the site fully into EU/DE compliance and keep it that way.
Professionalise information architecture and content update workflows.
What you’ll do
Audit and fix: Impressum, GDPR/DSGVO privacy policy, TTDSG cookie consent, data processing records, donation/payment pages, newsletter flows, and vendor DPAs.
Set up accessibility roadmap (EAA/Barrierefreiheit where applicable) and security basics (backups, updates, monitoring).
Create a lightweight content system (style guide, changelog, review checklist) and assist with periodic updates.
Profile
Hands-on experience with EU/German website compliance and consent tooling.
Can work directly in the CMS and with developers as needed.
Clear, systematic communicator who leaves things tidier than found.
3) Non-profit Tax Accountant (DE/EU) — Contractor (Honorarvertrag)
Mandate / outcomes
Set up a clean, audit-ready accounting workflow for a small cross-border non-profit project.
What you’ll do
Recommend and implement the bookkeeping stack and chart of accounts.
Advise on donation receipts, restricted funds, grants, and cross-border payments.
Quarterly reviews; year-end close package; prepare/coordinate filings (DE focus; flag other EU obligations if relevant).
Profile
Strong knowledge of German non-profit accounting/tax (plus international aspects).
Comfortable working from lightweight SOPs and improving them.
Experience with small NGOs/associations is a plus.
Contract & practicals (all roles)
Engagement: freelance/contractor, part-time, project-based.
Location: remote (Europe-friendly time zones; Berlin time helpful).
