About us

The Compassionate Future Initiative (CFI) is a small, impact-driven non-profit project focused on community building. We advocate and mobilise for high-impact initiatives to reduce suffering in the near and distant future.


Contract & practicals (applies to all roles)

  • Engagement: Volunteering / Freelance / Contractor
  • Location: Remote — ideally with the ability and interest to occasionally meet near Munich or at Effective Altruism events within the EU.
  • Start: As soon as feasible.
  • Rates: Please state your hourly/day rate (including VAT status) and provide a rough cost estimate for the work you’re interested in.
  • Process: Short intro call → paid scoping mini-SOW (time-boxed) → main contract.

1) Compassionate Genomics — Network Associate 

Mandate / outcomes

What you’ll do

  • Map and prioritise stakeholders (academia, labs, funders, ethics/governance bodies, allied NGOs).

  • Proactively outreach, arrange calls, and maintain a warm pipeline; prepare concise briefs before/after meetings.

  • Convene a small advisory circle; help scope collaborations, preprints, shared resources, and grant opportunities.

  • Maintain a contact log and quarterly progress snapshot (key intros made, opportunities unlocked, blockers).

Profile

  • Relevant educational background (Master's, PhD in Genetics or closely related field) and experiences in genomics research.

  • Established network in relevant research and policy development.

  • Strong social and communication skills to navigate sensitive topics with nuance.

  • Deep understanding of, and alignment with, CFI’s mission regarding Compassionate Genomics & Evolutionary Anthropology.

Time involvement:

Approximately 5-10 hours per month, with the prospect of expanding the collaboration if funding permits.
